Regional Spirit

I have long felt that Greg Lake / Pete Sinfield 's "I believe in Father Christmas" is one of the more creative modern Christmas songs created in my lifetime. I have never been a huge fan of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, but I am a big fan of Greg Lake's ode to the British Santa.
I never really knew of Kathy Mattea until this last Saturday night, December 21, 2011, when I saw her perform on PBS's "Song of the Mountains."
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has always been a favorite of mine in the way that they have always moved at their own pace in their own time.
In this most eclectic mix-bag of videos, we stay in the holiday spirit, as we move ever closer to Christmas Day.
My first knowledge of Josh Groban was from the A.I. soundtrack, which was an outstanding bit of music from a fantastic film - one of Spielberg's best. From that initial brush with Mr. Groban, I discerned that he had a spectacular voice.
I like Christmas ornaments, most people do this time of year. In this post I am publishing a few ornaments that I like. I will publish more later, maybe a few exterior decorations if I can get any unique shots.
"So this is Christmas (War is Over)" was written in 1971 by John and Yoko Lennon, just months after the official breakup of the Beatles.
I actually like Celtic Folk Music ... I like it very much. The Celtic Women are not Celtic Folk singers; however, they do have their place, especially during the Christmas Season.
Since I was a young adolescent, I have loved the Peanuts Gang. The first installment of Charles Schultz's classic Peanuts Comic Strip on the television was "A Charlie Brown Christmas," which first aired in 1965.
Jewel Kilcher is probably the single most talented performer / songwriter, in terms of ballads, in the last 20 years.
Sarah McLachlan has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. As an impassioned "rocker," with somewhat of a sentimental streak, I have always dug talented balladeers, especially the females.
Allison Krause is one of the most talented performers of our time. It's time for Allison, and a host of assorted talented musicians, such as Yo-Yo Ma to take their turn in our Yuletide section.
The movie "A Christmas Story" is the most exposed story in a decade. With this gem, who needs to own the DVD? It drones on and on each Christmas Sesaon, and we are left with vignettes of somebody's memories.
The Good Lovelies are in the Christmas Spirit, and we are too. "Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight."
Thanksgiving as a holiday just makes profound sense. It is one of the Unites States's oldest holidays and is emblematic of who Americans are ... or maybe were.
As we approach the Yuletide season, we are requesting that our readers send us Christmas greetings, through song, story, or verse that is important to you.
