In the Christmas Spirit: Jewel, Sarah and Robert Earl Keen

   This post will be BCN's
Robert Earl Keen
next to the last contribution to the spirit of the season, at least in regards to Christmas Music videos. Since we began this popular thread of posts with Robert Earl Keen, Jewel, Sarah McLachlin, we shall nearly conclude with them. I say nearly, because there will be one more on Christmas Eve.

From the ridiculous to the sublime may be be the best way to describe this collection of videos, but, of course, that would depend on one's point of view.

The ridiculous for some: Robert Earl Keen's "Merry Christmas from the Family. In my opinion: What might be the perfect "White Trash" Christmas for some, could just be a loving extended family coming together for a communal experience. And on the other hand, I well understand how that prospect could be a bit unsettling for those who might consider themselves "normal." Of course, I can always offer: What is really normal? Also in the some category of the bizarre is Jewels' melodic expression in yodel of a community during their festive season.

The sublime: Jewel's rendition of Ave Maria. I have never been a huge Ave maria fan; however, I am of Jewel Kilcher's version. I have always loved Jewel. She is truly gifted. Also included in this next to the last batch of Christmas time videos is this one of people skating, en masse, with Sarah McLachlan's rendition of Joni Mitchell's "River" melodically over-layed.

I fully realize that this may appear that I cleaned out the bin on this post, which is exactly what I did, but there is a purpose here. I'm just not exactly sure what that purpose is, but I am assured that there may be one, and on some level, it may work for somebody.

Jewel Kilcher's "Ave Maria:" Below.

Sarah McLachlan's rendition of "River:" Below.

If you are embarrassed by the antics of your family at Christmas time, get a load of Robert Earl Keen's: Below. This video sure makes me feel better about mine.

Almost as weird as "Merry Christmas from the Family" is Jewel's yodeling session. However, it is Jewel, so it's cool: Below.

A different version of a really great song: Below.
